I never really have gotten into Spanish wines. Maybe a short sited failing on my part. This wine was a good wine that had a unique flavor to it. Unique in this context is good but for me not great. One of the interesting things about this wine is that the bottle is extra thick. I have tried to do some research on the wine and I see several sites selling it but no real information on the wine, winery or bottle. The wine drank well and may be better in a couple of years but was not a bottle that I am going to buy in quantity to put in my cellar. It is a good “party wine” which in my house means that I can open it when guests come over for a large gathering. In these events I typically do not open the best wines as people are sipping and talking, eating and roaming and the focus is not on the wine. When a small gathering comes over or we have a party for wine I bring out the tried and true. However, when I am not sure if they will drink to enjoy versus just having a cocktail I would default to a good wine that will hold up. Here is what some of the sites say about the wine: Deep, saturated red. Explosively perfumed nose features exotic scents of blackberry, cassis, cola, sandalwood, patchouli and smoked meat. Broad, deep and remarkably sweet, with lush dark fruit flavors showing remarkable depth and purity. Intense mineral accents and firm tannins add structure and precision. Stephen Tanzer Since I can not find anything on the winery I am going to promote those that helped me out. These are all good places to pick up some wine and get some feedback. Remember that life is too short for bad wine or bad friends. |
