Avalon – California Cabernet Sauvignon 2007 (Sonoma)

The label says: that Avalon winery produces only cabs.  It says that it will exhibit rich, slightly smoky aromas of cherries, boysenberry and chocolate.  It has 8 months in French and American barrels.

For someone that is into deeper, bolder reds this one did not do it for me.  Not a bad wine just way to fruity for me.  It has a very shallow feel to it.  Now let’s talk about what I know about when to drink a wine.  Ok, next subject.  I do not know what needs to sit and what should be drank when so I may have opened this one too early.  Avalon, what do you think?  However, for the price of a California Cab it is a good value and will probably appeal to a broad crowd.  We will see how it tastes on night two.

Here is what Avalon says about their wines:  http://www.avalonwinery.com/documents/2007AvalonNapawinenotes_000.pdf

My only issue is that they say they only do Cabernet but when I read that page it shows a blend?  Hmmm.  Someone educate me.

Remember that life is too short for bad wine or bad friends.
