Chloe Jeremy – Cabernet Sauvignon 2005 (Napa)

The winery says: The aromatics of this wine are extremely rich with blackberry, fig and vanilla. It expresses intense youthfulness which shows through to the finish. It is concentrated without being heavy. Superbly integrated acidity and sweet tannins make for an enjoyable wine. Decanting is strongly recommended.

The reality:  This wine was gift from our good friends Amy and Thomas.  As they arrived one weekend to spend an exhaustive weekend with two kids and two frazzled parents they brought this bottle that has been sitting in my cellar ever since.  This weekend Amy and my wife are beaching it up in South Padre Island and I thought that I would treat myself to this bottle of wine as a self congratulatory expression for surviving being a house father this weekend.

As a small note, I have always respected what my wife does with our kids and know that I am not programmed very well to be at home with the kids.  I also try to give her positive feedback for the hard work that she does and I realize after three days with my boys that it probably always falls short. Maybe I should order a case of this wine for her…weekly.  Thanks C, our kids are what they are for what you do.

Now on to the wine, not the whine.  This bottle lives up to its anticipated reputation.  This wine in both the hands of a novice and a versed wine taster came across as something special.  I read on the site that it should be held and I now want to grab another bottle to lay down and see what it tastes like in a couple of years.  However, there is nothing wrong with it today.  It has a very berry and intense but easy to drink feel.  I am not sure of the price but I can guess that based on just the taste that we are talking in the 50s to start.  If I under guessed, my apologies.  It is probably worth every penny up to $70 per bottle and I am sure will age well.

This type of cult wine reminds me of Juslyn or some other limited release winery and I encourage those looking for something over the top to look into it.

Thanks Amy and Thomas.  This was a great pick and to those of you out there, this is always a good pick for a gift if you need a solid choice and can spend the cash.
